I'm waiting on an R61 14w that should arrive in a couple of weeks and I've got a question about the display resolution. I ordered mine with the standard 14" WXGA screen, because I'll be doing mostly text-based work with it. But after ordering I noticed on Lenovo's ordering site, in one of their "help me decide" dialogs, this description of the WXGA and WXGA+ resolutions:

    • WXGA: Widescreen XGA
    Resolution: 1280x720,1280×800, 1440×900, 1280x768
    • WXGA+: Widescreen Extended Graphics Array Plus
    Resolution: 1440x900

This makes it look like the WXGA can display at both 1280x800 and 1440x900. What's the deal? Is this a typo? Is the 1280x800 the WXGA's native resolution and therefore the only one you should really use?

I'd check it out in person, but mine's not suppose to ship for a couple of weeks! Obsessing, obsessing, obsessing....

    TIA, ~john

It's probably a typo, WXGA on laptops maxes out at 1280x800.

Text looks best at the screen's native resolution, so yes you'd be better off sticking to the screen's 1280x800 resolution.
