This is really something insignificant, but I think if it's true, it would annoy me to no end. By looking at pictures, it seems that the left side of the screen is bigger than the right side...so it's kind of off center. Am I just imagining it, or is this how they're built? Did any of you notice this at all when you got yours?

It's basically the only thing stopping me from buying one. I'm not OCD.

They are off-center. It's how they're built. It has do with all the antennas that are housed within the LCD for WLAN and WWAN. My R60's screen is off-center as well, though not as noticeable.

Yes, the screen is mounted off-center on both the T400 and T500. But, from personal experience, I do not notice it at all when I'm using it - from seeing pictures, it seems that the bezel is very large and ugly, and very off-center, but from actual use, there is no difference.

I actually almost didnt buy my t400 for just this very reason. But im extremely glad I did. I never even notice it anymore, but when i do, it just reminds me this computer is made to get a job done, not be a fashion queen.

Similar experience here. While it is not very aesthetic, and I thought I’d have an issue with it, in practice this is a non-issue.
