I'm interested in buying a T410 which I could get new for around £450. I've read a lot of reviews which say the screen is poor and was wondering if this was the case with most laptops these days or is the T410 especially bad? Thanks

I have seen both the WXGA and WXGA+ displays on the T410, and I would say that compared to the average laptop out there, it's "average." There are some that are slightly worse, and definitely some that are better. Compared to other systems that you can get for 450 pounds, it's probably about the same. Don't expect to be dazzled by the T410's screen, and it will serve general use just fine.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I was scared but as far as I knew most laptops these days are packing mediocre TN panels but if the T410 isn't significantly worse then I'm not too worried. The model I'm looking to get has a WXGA display. Would you say 1280x800 is sufficient for the 14" screen or should I keep looking? What other laptops have admirable build quality but with a decent screen?

It is better if you go 1440X900. 1280X800 on 14 is too small for me. Considering that the screen itself its in "average" quality, it is better to choose the highest resolution.

I've seen the WXGA+ display in the T410 in my University's bookstore. While the vertical viewing angles weren't great, the overall quality of the screen was decent in my opinion.
I've seen the WXGA display on someone else's T410. It was a bit blurry for some reason, and I thought for a moment the blur was from running 1280x800 on the 1440x900 display, but it turned out to be the quality of the screen that was causing that. So the 1440x900 screen is definitely better than the 1280x800, in more than just resolution.
Check the Lenovo Outlet to see if you can find a WXGA+ T410.
