I am thinking about getting the Ideapad Y560. This laptop will almost never be used for gaming, so I have been looking for something that will have integrated graphics, so it wont run as hot. But then I saw the Y560 has switchable graphics. I like the idea of running on integrated graphics, then should the need ever arise I can switch to dedicated.

My question is do all 3 models of the Y560 come with the switchable graphics option? And if so are there ever any problems with it?

Also please feel free to give any other comments about this laptop. I am trying to gather as much info on it as I can, but it seems pretty hard to find a review on it, although the Y460 got a great review on this site. So im hoping the 560 will follow suit.

    Thanks Guys.

The i7's Do not have switchable graphics, while the i3 and i5's do. There are no problems when switching graphics cards but you will have to switch them manually.(Flip of a switch)The quality is about the same as the y460 and keep cooler better, but some screens are defective.

Thanks for your input that helps a lot. I have been reading things here and there about the screens. That is kind of disappointing. Is it pretty much hit or miss? Some are good and some are not? What is the exact problems with some of the screens.

Also if you guys had the choice between this model or the Dell Studio 15 with all the same options, but a better screen, and backlit keyboard what would you pick?

Some people are saying it is just specific models, but the screen used on all currents ones are exactly same, so take it as you will. Dancing pixels is the best way of describing or fuzziness. I bought the y460 because of the price point. With coupons they're dirt cheap. If you post in the official y460 and y560 forum, I'm sure owners of the y560 will give you better insight. http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo-ibm/453345-new-y460-y560-ideapads-146.html

I was reading through that thread, and also did some googling. I think that screen issue may hold me back. Its a shame there is not option for an upgraded screen. Does the Y460 have and history of that screen issue like the 560?

I haven't heard a single complaint about the y460's screen, apart from it not being a 1600x900 resolution.
