Does Lenovo's "Accidental Protection" also include the regular warranty? Or does the regular warranty have to be purchased in addition to the "Accidental Protection?"
-
It includes the regular warranty of the same duration.
-
Thanks for the answer.
Another question, has anyone purchased the "Accidental Protection?" Is it worth it? I am thinking about the 3 year deal. -
I think it is if you are going to be mobile.

It's especially worth it if you get it through EPP. There's a major cost savings. Even if you didn't go with EPP, you don't want to find out that YOU'RE the unlucky one who had a co-worker spill junk on your laptop.
I recommend LoJack too. Theft and Spill proof. What could be better for peace of mind? I enjoy peace of mind so that I can focus on other more important things, like studying and making money. -
How likely is some spilled coffee on the keyboard going to damage the laptop? I've been reading about the spill proof Thinkpad keyboard. Is it really effective in real life?

I would double-check this just to make sure. When I purchased my T60 through a higher ed contract, it came with a 3-year depot warranty. I then had the option to upgrade it to a 3-year depot + 3-year accidental protection, but the warranties are clearly distinct from each other. At the regular lenovo site, it is possible to upgrade one without adding the other. I personally am very happy I purchased the accidental protection. I did it mainly due to travel risks, but even when using it around the house (with a wireless router) or the office you face the possibility of spills, drops, kid/pet/colleague tampering etc... The peace of mind for me was worth the extra cost.

Depends where you spill it. The keyboard is spill resistant, but there are vents and other holes in the system. Regardless, any type of spill is not covered under the limited warranty.
I don't think this is true. Most places charge separately for both. Accidental insurance is just that, for accidental. -
I've had one accident in over a dozen years of laptop use. That was a water spill which killed it (someone else knocked her water glass over on top of my keyboard).
So doing the math, it's not worth it for me. I dropped my thinkpad once, it hit the floor and the floor broke. LOL -
I'd first ensure you have at least 3 yrs of regular warranty before worrying about accidental coverage. My c/card provides me with a year of accidental coverage anyway. After 2 years, the laptop has lost two-thirds of its value, so what's the point then.
-
If you go to the configuration page for warranty and accident protection, all of the accident protections are clearly labeled as "x year on site/depot upgrade with x year ThinkPad Protection."
In addition, it is impossible to select a warranty and thinkpad protection plan. If you check a warranty radio button, the protection service radio button will switch to none, and it works the other way too. The ThinkPad Protection definitely includes a warranty. -
Are you in canada or the US?
-
I'm in the U.S.

okay, but i meant to ask furrycute LOL

I am in the good old U.S. of A.

I got it right, at least
-
Right on buddy!

Yeah, it's too bad you can't have accident for 1 year and regular warranty for 3, I'd easily pick that.
