Hey guys, long time since last post.
After 2 years of owning my excellent machine; due to the faulty manufacturing of the GPU in my 15.4" T61p (being a G84M-based Quadro FX570M), the card has died- only giving the 1 long and 2 short beeps on boot. Being a true technology geek and Thinkpad fanatic, I've decided to buy it's successor, the well-received T500 (well, semi-successor, it not being worth it to me to buy the W500), and salvaging the old parts from my T61p for use in my father's 14.1" T61.
Although I'm set on buying this T500; I read from many reviews that although the keyboards on the Tx00 series of Thinkpads are superior to those of other manufacturers, they aren't as tactile as those used in the previous generation T61. Since this is the only con I've noticed about the T500, I was wondering if I'd be able to swap in the perfect keyboard from the T61p into my T500 on arrival, or if the two are incompatible?

I think you can swap it in. When I got my replacement keyboard from Lenovo, the rep said it was for the T61p. I have the T400.

Yep, you can. The T500, T400, and W500 all use the same keyboard as the T6x series.
Question about keyboard intercompatibility...between T61p and T500
