I want to add a second hard drive to my T530 via the mSATA slot (something like a Mushkin Atlas). Is there any problem using this as a 'normal' second drive (i.e. not as a cache associated with the Intel Smart Response thing)? On my T60 I had two SSDs, but the second was in the caddy replacing the optical drive. I figure this way I can keep the optical drive in the T530 and still have two drives via the mSATA, but I want to make sure there's not some strange BIOS or other problem preventing this from working.

    Thanks,
    Jay

There is no problem at all. You simply lift up the keyboard, insert the mSATA SSD into the WWAN/mSATA slot, tighten one screw (Lenovo supplied), put back the keyboard, turn on the system, and initialize the new drive with Windows "Disk Management" program.

No need to set anything in BIOS. Just don't forget the disk/partition initialization part.
