Hello. I have a habit of leaving my computer on throughout the night, but I've been told that things like the monitor, etc. all have certain lifespans, and that keeping my notebook on overnight just puts unneccessary wear on these parts. Is this true? It doesn't seem like it'd be, because my screen essentially turns off after enough time being idle, but I don't really know much about computers. Thanks.

The LCD does have a certain lifespan(in hours of usage), but they usually turn off after being unused, so thats not much of a concern.
What is however, is the internal parts, with enough cleaning(compressed air), temperature monitoring and overall general maintenance of the HD, there shouldn't be too much worry about it. -
The answer to your question also depends on what you do with the computer overnight. Do you let it sit idle or are you running some applications?
