I plan on getting a y510p with a DVD drive installed.

Can I pull out the DVD drive and put an SSD hard drive in it's spot?

Yeah, but you will need to buy a caddy first (ebay is your friend) and then attach the front of the included DVD burner to it to close it off.

Heres a link to caddy you can buy (its for the Y400/Y500 but fits the Haswell laptops just as good):

Hmm, so there's no generic front cover that I can put onto the caddy? I have to use the DVD burner cover?

    Thanks.

Well, there is, but you will have to buy it as part of Lenovo's HDD+Caddy option, which costs a whopping 189$ for only 750 gigs.

    Y500 Removable HDD F451 | Lenovo | (CA) (says y500 but fits the Y510p)

EDIT: sorry for canadian website, in case you arent canadian :c
