I have this mouse and it takes 2 AA batteries. I was curious if anyone knew if it can take rechargeable batteries or only alkaline? Some mice can't and the specs say so, such as the logitech vx revolution that I had. Thanks.

from the user guide...
"The ThinkPad Bluetooth Laser Mouse needs two AA batteries to work with your computer. For better performance, install alkaline batteries in your mouse."
i've always used alkaline in mine. they seem to last quite a while but i only use that mouse when traveling. i've had this mouse since early 2008 and only replaced the batteries twice. -
you can use the rechargeable battery, but it is preferable that you don't use the alkaline rechargeable, since there is a chance that they leak, which will damage the mouse's electronic components and circuitry.

I believe you can use rechargeable batteries but Rechareable AA batteries usually are lower than 1.5V and thus you mouse might not work the best.
I use lithium AA batteries cause the light weight.
I just bought this Thinkpad bluetooth laser mouse and i just love it. I dont feel any Lag time on this mouse and the size, thickness are just perfect for my hand. -

Thanks for the feedback. The batteries I plan to use are Rayovac NiMH 1.2V rechargable. I am not so worried about battery life with these as I will just recharge them more frequently if they run out. The performance, i am not sure about. I can try them and then if the performance is ok, then I don't care.
But the thing that bothers me is that can these rechargeable batteries damage the mouse in any way? -
unless they leak electrolyte...... using rechargeable batteries won't damage the mouse per se.

Somethings wrong with my Lenovo bluetooth mouse. I start using it from 2/12/2010 and so far i already changed two pairs of Energizer Lithium battery. I previous use Logitech V470 Bluetooth mouse and the same Lithium battery and they last about one semester(3-4 months). I am going to start using the rechargable battery from now on. Lithium battery are expensive!
I always remember to turn off the mouse, its the first thing i do after i hit the shutdown button!

I don't know a whole lot about rechargeable batteries. Why do you think they might leak? Do rechargeable batteries have a tendency to leak more than regular alkaline? -
the alkaline rechargeable does leak after about 10 cycles, or 1 year of use. Most of them have special vent hole in the bottom of the battery to do that. It must be electro chemistry of the alkaline rechargeable that causes this.
I have used quite a few of the alkaline rechargeable when i was a uni student, and after one year of usage, half of these batteries start to leak.
