I have an old IBM T40 laptop with 40GB of HDD. I want to replace it with a bigger one and install my own copy of Windos XP pro.
However, the system did not have any driver discs, how can I get drivers for the T40?

you can go to lenovo's website and download all the necessary drivers onto a thumbdrive before you pop in a new hdd.

I just did the same with T42, upgraded to 100GB 7200 rpm hard drive. Not sure if your T40 has a built-in wi-fi, but that is the most important driver you need to get to the internet. After you are connected, go to Lenovo and download and install the rest of the drivers. Otherwise, if you are using pcmcia wi-fi card, just re-install original driver after WinXP is up, and head over to Lenovo to get all the latest drivers for your laptop.

I just downloaded the wireless lan driver for my T40.
Thanks guys. -
Another must-have, get one of those external usb laptop hdd conversion boxes (around $20 at BestBuy or CompUSA) and put your 40GB in it. It will make your life easier copying over data files from your old drive, and now you also get yourself 40GB usb drive!

Thanks for the advice but I already have an external HDD for back up. The old 40GB HDD in the T40 is making stange noise, I think I should just throw it away...
