I am REALLY, REALLY undecided on wheather I should get the T43 14" SXGA+ or XGA. I am a java developer and will spend sometime on this machine writting java code with the eclipse platform. I am affraid if I go with the SXGA+ the text will be too small and hurt my eyes, on the other end I am affraid the XGA will not give me enough space on the screen.
Could you share your experience with me as a developer?
Thanks in advance

Are the text sizes ok for you, too small, can you reduce the SXGA+ resolution to the SXGA without damaging the quality to much?
Thanks for your reply. -
well, I'm not a Java developer, but rather use Microsoft technologies (ducking) but I use an SXGA IBM T40 and would recommend that over XGA. You simply cannot see enough on an XGA screen to be effective for coding purposes.

This should be on a sticky, it gets posted so much:
Visa - http://www.IBM.com/businesscenter/visa
Mastercard - http://www.IBM.com/businesscenter/mastercard
As far as I know, the only notebooks eligible are the Think Express models. I never found a way to "build your own" and get the discount. And no, you don't have to be a business to get the discount. -
How can you get the visa 10% discount?

I saw elsewhere that you are looking at a T43 2687D7U. Do you realize that the 15" version (2687D4U) is the exact same price on IBM's web site? It makes no sense, but it's true--aside from the LCD size, it has the exact same specs and warranty. If resolution is an issue, why not get 15"?
I had similar concerns about the resolution. I run 1600x1200 on my 20" desktop, so I'm afraid 1400x1050 on a 14" screen might be too small. On the other hand, I'm running 1024x768 on a 12.1" laptop, so I think 1024x768 on a 14" would look too big. I'm hoping 1400x1050 on a 15" will be just right (I ordered mine on Monday). The 15" only weighs 0.7 pound more than the 14", so it's still under six pounds. Battery life will be a little shorter with the 15", though.
Btw, if you can't get the EPP discount, you can still save 10% with the Visa or Mastercard discounts. -
Thanks man I appreciate it.
