I hope this is in the right place.

I am purchasing two Thinkpads (an x61 and a t61p). I am planning on dumping 4 gigs of ram into them.

I upgraded to Vista Ultimate but noticed they only come with 32 bit.

My question is; how can we get the full media for them without having to use their bloatware? I would like to have the pure copies of the DVD media so I can try out the 64 bit and if I run into too many problems, install clean versions of the 32 bit back on them.

Since we have already paid for the licenses, is there some way to get the media without having to dump another $400 just for a couple of DVDs?

    Thanks in advance.

Search the forums for guides on doing what is known as clean installs, to do this you need either the vista disk or the upgrade anytime disk. The upgrade anytime disc can be purchased for $7.00 at http://windowsanytimeupgrade.com/disc/
When at that website, select your language as well as if you want the 64-bit disc or the 32-bit disc.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I am a bit confused about the upgrade. Is this just giving me DVD media discs or am I actually supposed to be upgrading from something?

The site i referred you to its to purchase a dvd that contains all versions of vista. With your computers, follow the clean install guides featured on the forums. Your license keys will work, and you will have your computers running bloat ware free after the clean install of your 64-bit version of vista. Read as much as you can on the clean install, and don't be afraid to ask if you get lost.

    Thanks a ton.

    Johnny,

Perhaps we should start another petition to have members start threads with more meaningful titles.

    JaeZTT,

I wouldn't have asked the question if the person who titled his thread with "real quick question" had been a bit more descriptive. Not all of us have time to read through every thread.

Nah, this question was asked several times before that too.

Hey, That was my thread! I just titled it that because I expected one post and then for it to die. You could of used the search feature and found it anyhow.

Yeah, I didn't mean to insult you. Just some people turn into forum nazis if anyone asks a question that might have been asked before. I usually only search on thread titles because if I do a search on entire posts, I get so many meaningless results that it just becomes as bad as finding something on google.

No worries. Thats just the way things go on forums. Its partially organized chaos. I know that if this petition actually works, then things should improve around here.
