Basically that's the question - when on idle, do you observe some
constant harddisk activity ? Some processes are writing to a disk
every 4 seconds or so. It's very annoying and I'm wondering if
I'm the only one who has this problem.
I have WinXP Home, 1gig of RAM and it's T60p.
    Thanks.

ps. I don't have any viruses or spyware/malware.

Yeah. I get it on my T43. Still can't figure out what process is doing it.

And you can't ever be SURE you don't have viruses/spyware/malware if you've ever connected to the internet ;) Different virus scanners detect different numbers and types of viruses.

You say XP and then ask why...
    It's pretty normal,
IT happens on all the notebook/pcs I have ever seen...

ok.. fine.. actually it's my first notebook, so that's why
I'm asking. With desktop under the table you don't really
know what kind of harddisk activity is going on. With a
notebook on your laps it's much more obvious.
I know it' svchost.exe who is writing to repository.
Well, I guess you are right - XP.. that says it all :)
But I still don't regred on choosing Thinkpad over MacBook :)
