So the wait is finally over. I just took it out the box and I'm using it now. I've been using a T42 for work for the past 2 years. Probably use it about 8 or 9 hours a day. It's a great laptop but it's been having problems lately.

Things that bother me so far:

I use a 1900x1200 Dell 24" on my main computer and have no problems. Although sitting 2 feet in from of this screen is causing me to strain my eyes a bit. I don't wear glasses and have never had a problem with my vision(I'm 25). In the first 10 minutes of using this guy it's really causing my eyes to strain. The T42 was 1024x800(which I hated) and this is 1440xsomething. I guess I'll see if I can get used to it. I hope I don't lose any vision over it!

The screen is nice. But on the right bottom side of the screen it's darker. As if I were looking at the screen from another angle. Is that what light leakage is? It's pretty annoying.

The battery life is awesome with the 9 cell. It looks like I can get at least 5 hours, as opposed to my T42 which was at about 40 minutes. It's a world of difference.

So far it's not even close to getting as hot as my old laptop did. I guess I'll see how it goes after using it for a few hours.

The keyboard seems more responsive than the T42.

The dark part of the screen thing is really bothering me.

There are also 50 million things running in the tray. I guess a clean install is the best way to go?

Is this Vista? Did you try changing the dpi to 120 to help out with the eye strain thing?

Your screen is a WSXGA+, so the resolution is 1680x1050. Is it really that difficult to read on a 15.4" screen? You probably have to increase the font size dpi to compensate.

After going from something XGA-like to WSXGA+, give it a day before changing DPI. Personally it took me that long to adjust.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

It is getting easier and easier to look at now. I changed the DPI and that seems to make a difference although I'm not exactly sure what it did.

I really hate all the crap on the machine now so I guess I'll have to find that thread that talks about how to reinstall.

My work machine is that size and resolution and it's not really that comfortable, honestly.

Luckily there's control + to bump up the text size in browsers, which has been a lifesaver.

I just need to find a way to do it in outlook.

Man, I don't have the greatest eyesight and I think WSXGA+ is beautiful. Could never go lower. But to each his own.

After using it some more I definitely have become used to it. Thanks for the tips!
