    So I just got a new T420 and am loving it. A few questions though. There seem to be many things that I can do with this laptop to improve my experience.

    Is there anything I can do to make my computer faster? I have heard of different profiles that I can set that while draining battery faster also make the computer faster. Where do I find these profiles.

    Also, the two finger scrolling isnt the best. Is there a way to improve this?

    Lastly, I have heard many people talking about calibrating their screen. How do I do this?

    Thanks!

    Calibrating does not apply to you. Some of the Wxxx models come with a color calibrator, but none of the other ThinkPads have that.

    1) Depends on what you define as faster? More responsive Windows? Faster CPU?

    2) Should be the Powermizer

    3) You can try like Spyder 3 Express, it's like 80-90 bucks and will make a great difference.

    There should be an icon for Lenovo Power Manager on the Taskbar. [Make sure you have the latest version because it starts much faster.] Open Power Manager and explore. There are several pre-defined profiles which you can further adjust.

    Some people say that it is better to disable the two finger scrolling in the Synaptics driver and use TwofingerScroll instead.

    Windows 7 has a simple calibration tool (type "calibrate" into the search box). This allows you to adjust the gamma and colour balance and it then runs the ClearType tuner. However, I finally found that reducing gamma to 0.9 in the Intel graphics control panel achieved a good result (ie minimised the "griddiness" while providing good contrast).

    per the advice floating around,
    faster 1866 memory
    Kingston KHX1866C11S3P1K2/8G HyperX Plug n Play 8GB 4GBx2 204-Pin DDR3 1866MHz Dual Channel Laptop Memory Unbuffered Non-ECC CL11-Best Computer Online Store Houston Buy Discount Prices Texas-Directron.com

    Newegg.ca - OCZ Vertex 3 V3LT-25SAT3-240G.oem 2.5" 240GB SATA III - SSD

    the Spyder Express as mentioned above will work;
    Review - Monitor calibration with the Spyder 3 Express

    if you need to calibrate multiple displays I'd recommend the elite.
