I'm looking on a T60 WS with these specs:

    LENOVO ThinkPad T60 Core 2 Duo T5600 1GB,80GB, 15.4" 1280x800,ATI X1400 128MB,DVD±RW,a/b/gCentrino Duo,Bluetooth, fingerprint reader, Vista Business.

There's no shops in the vicinity that has this machine and I'm therefore unable to check if that screen is any good. Will the screen resolution be to small. I can get a 14,1 screen with a 1400x1050 resolution or I could pay a bit more and get the 15" IPS screen. Neither of the alternatives ships with Vista though.

    What do you think?

I have a 15.1 with a res of 1280*800 and the resolution is perfect for me. Its small enough to give me good real estate but big enough (DPI) to be legible.

I have a 14.1" sxga+ screen and love it. It's the perfect size for me but it's really personal preference. Even though no stores near you carry the T60, you may want to call and see if they have any other models with that resolution.

IPS screens are gorgeous though, if you'll be doing any color-sensitive work the lower resolution may be a worthwhile trade-off.

I'm from Norway and we can't configure any of the machines but have to choose from pre-configured ones.

The machine will for the most part be used to normal office work like Word, Exel and so on. But I will take it with me on travels and will play films and games to kill time at the hotel :)

How good are your eyes? Some would consider that resolution on a 15.4 LCD to be too big, and others would consider it perfect. What resolution do you use on a desktop screen (and what size screen?)

    Well. At home I use a Dell XPS M1710 with a 17" screen a 1900x1200 resolution. So I guess I have good eyes :)

When I'm not out of the office, the T60 will be docked and hooked up to a larger desk screen.

I would say to go with the WSXGA+ then, because the 1280x800 REALLY bugged me when I had an older HP laptop... and I have a 21" 1680x1050 LCD on my home computer. My T60's WSXGA+ is the exact same resolution.... kinda makes me want to get a 24" 1920x1200 LCD for my desktop lol
