I'm just wondering what interface does the ultrabase use to connect to the X200? Do you guys feel the ultrabase is worth the cost? To be honest, I don't need the ultrabase for its optical drive and or extra USB ports. The only thing that might come in handy is the displayport-out, but I highly doubt I'll be using that. It's nice that it can charge a second battery at the same time, but I doubt I'll be purchasing a second 9-cell battery. I don't think there is a battery that would fit in the optical drive slot. So can you guys tell me why you would consider an ultrabase for the X200?

    I personally love the ultrabase...

if you're planning to output to an external monitor the digital output is a must (you can buy a displayport to dvi adapter).

The main reason I bought the ultrabase was to have duel external monitors, thus the ultrabase was the best solution

if you have the money i would recommend it!

i dont have a thinkpad nor the ultrabase... but when i used to use my hp laptop as my only computer, i needed a base so bad. its really annoying to hook up the monitor, keyboard, mouse, usb dvd writer, my webcam, eithernet cabel, everytime i wanted to use the laptop on my desk. where i did stay for long periods.
if you dont feel that you're going to have the same situation, then i dont see the point of it.

The only nice thing about the base is that it can charge the laptop on it. This way I don't have to leave the cable lying around and just plug the power cable straight to the ultrabase for convenience.

If you don't use an external display(s) and/or peripherals then the ultrabay is pretty useless since that is its express purpose.

It is dang expensive for use solely as a charger.

I could think of better ways to spend two hundred dollars than on a big-black-power-cable-holder. Maybe a paper weight? It would hafta be a very pretty paper weight at two hundred dollars, but if all you're using it for is as a charging dock, I suggest something that doesn't eat up as much desk space.

    :D

I also love my ultrabase. I have it hooked up to a 1920x1200 LCD using the DP to DVI adapter and also I have a second hard drive using the sata adapter for ultra fast backups. I LOVE it :)

    PS
I also have a second battery which I charge on the ultrabase, separately from the main one which is very handy ...
