I want to get one 4:3 T61 or T61p due to the good price.
But I heard some issues about this mode:
    1) No firewire port
    2) lower nits rating (brightness) for those particular screens.
3)Quality of build compare to 14.1 WS ( 4:3 mode is the same T60?)
    4) No WWAN option?
    5) FX 570M 128m vs. 140M 128m, both are 64 bits, but power consumption 35w vs 10w. worth to go T61p?

Appreciate anyone comment on those issues. Thank you.

I have the fourteener 570m and today I used my computer for 3 solid hours straight of taking notes and then surfed for another 30minutes before the computer died. I have a 6cell battery.

    1) No it doesn't.
    2) 150 vs 200 I believe.
    3) Only got it today, but feels similar in build to my T41. Has missing paint on one corner though, bothers me so much... but I'm a little OCD.
    4) It comes with T61p unless you get turbo memory.
    5) Up to you, depends on what type of applications you are going to be running.

4)So wwan is built in for free? I thought it was an extra option you had to pay for that just wasn't a possible option if you get turbo memory (ok, probably misunderstanding you)

5)I think thats just max power draw.

Even if it were offered standard, of course it wouldn't be free. It would just be rolled into the price.

That said, it seems to be optional on the widescreen T61p, and not even offered on the standard screen. It looks like the same is the case with the plain ol' T61 14" standard aspect ratio.

i have a t61p 14.1 with WWAN Verizon, I particularly ordered it to have this. I am just curious if the regular Lenovo Store site gives you this card for free? If someone could open up their T61p 14.1 and see if they do have a card there or the antenna leads for WWAN that would be great!

Yeah the standard aspect 14.1 screen T61 DOES NOT have Firewire and built-in Media card reader, which sucks. I ordered one (because of the labor day 25% off sale + 15% USPTSERIES14 coupon code) without knowing about these issues. I have cancelled the order and I am getting a 15.4 Widescreen (which is a pity) with firewire and a built-in media card reader (separate from the express card slot).

    Best,

So far, as I know the T61p 14.1 gets WWAN as standard, you'll see it after making order. It might be Verizon... Of course, it's not free. :D

no firewire port....I still don't think WWAN is standard, maybe the WWAN antenna/built into the screen is standard but not the WWAN card itself.

Before I ordered T61 I checked the document that I provide.
I will complain about the no firewire issure after I have my T61. Hmm.

    Thanks!
I already have a 14.2'' WXGA+ Quadro 140M T61 but I also ordered a 14'' T61P this week. I thought this will boost a better graphics performance with FX 570M but regretfully, I found out that there isn't much difference between 128MB FX 570M and 128MB Quadro 140M. So I am deciding whether to keep the T61P or not when I receive it on Tuesday.
With no firewire, no built-in webcam, no built-in memory reader, worse LCD(old 150nits vs. brighter 200nits on T61) and most importantly, crippled FX 570M, what's the point of T61P? I already have a better spec'ed T61.
I know I should research more before I order T61P but the problem is that Lenovo provides so little or no information at all!!!

the price is the saving grace <1k seems like a decent deal, though the graphics card with regards to 3d apps is not better than the 5250. If it seems to good to be true it usually is, Lenovo is not stupid for selling these for such a great deal.

Honestly I think you get an empty slot but the WWAN cables are already run to that slot so you can either put in a Turbo Memory Card or go with the WWAN card if you want but no card is included, this is my theory cause I have been looking on other peoples orders that they have posted and it says something like 14.1" w/WWAN which means WWAN antennas are installed but if it doesn't explicitly state which WWAN card is installed that means no WWAN card is installed. Make sense?

Where did you see the power consumption numbers for the 570M and 140M?

Mine did, model 8891. Goes like this: If you order from Lenovo direct = IBM logo. If you order from a reseller = Thinkpad logo.
