Questions for Y410p Owners.

Hey guys,

I'm looking into getting a Y410p for my friend because his laptop broke, so I had some questions for the owners on the forums.

1. Lenovo claims up to 5 hours battery life. Is this true? Does the laptop come with Optimus?
2. How would you say the build quality of the laptop is?
3. What are temperatures when browsing the internet and playing games?
4. How loud are the fans when playing games?

If you would like to post your opinions on the laptop too, that would be great.

1. Yes, with a full 100% battery, integrated graphics/Optimus, and doing light tasks such as word processing, i managed to get 4:45 at mid brightness typing stuff in word. Cleaning bloatware helps.
2. Average to above-average. 80% as good as Thinkpads. Better than most Dell's.
3. The laptop is generally cool, even the bottom is quite cool. The only part that gets hot is the side graphics card vent. I dont have exact temperatures, but generally this heat doesn't bother me. But if you are a leftie, it will blow air in that direction while youre gaming with a mouse.
4. Rather quiet, if you have music/audio you wont hear them.

1) Personally I have not been able to get above 3 and a half hours of battery life. But I also keep the brightness up at 75% with Wi-Fi always on. I'm sure it can go more with some tweaks.
2) Build quality is okay. I like the carbon fiber like finish on the outside of the case. You can tell that most of the chassis is made of plastic but it doesn't really creak or flex if you pick it up with one hand.
3) Idle the temperatures are cool. CPU sits at around 57 C and GPU at idle will do the same. Under load of a game at high intensity I see temps up to 90 C at peak, and they average around 85C or so. Which is pretty decent.
4) Fan is quiet. I can not hear it almost ever unless I actually try to listen for it. I'm used to my desktop gaming rig though and that thing sounds like a hurricane so that could be why I find it so quiet.

All in all very satisfied with my purchase. Shipping is hit or miss for people it seems. Mine shipped and arrived across the country in 4 days with the free shipping. So I have no complaints. Also yes, optimus is active on arrival and works very well.
