Got my Z61t last friday and it looks great. It's really kool and more than what I expected. I had couple of questions regarding hard disk.

    1. Is there a partition software available to partition the disk ? I know partition magic but I am looking for a freeware which is reliable, tested.

    2. When the laptop is on, sometime I heard a click or *ding* sound when I move the laptop. Not sure what is this. This sound is frequent and will seeing like appearing in some regular fashion. Doesn't anyone observed the same behaviour? Is it because of some kind of protection to hard disk??

Try System rescue CD, has a lot of great utilities, all free :) . Good tool for when migrating to GNU/Linux free / opensource software
IMHO: PM8.05 is a piece of crap (& wasted $$!) compared to Ranish, Qparted, Parted etc!
Are you placing LT/NB in STBY or Hibernate before moving  ? How much movement does it take to make the sound (DO NOT pick it up & shake it to evaluate) just recall what stayed silent, vs noisy.
Did you take machine to live tech support dude for free evaluation /2nd opinion?

It's called Active Protection. It's suspending operation and parking the hard drive so that you don't damage the drive by moving the laptop around while it's on. It functions sort of like an air bag in case you drop the laptop or cause a sudden heavy jar so that your less likely to have a hard drive crash and lose your data.
