Hi guys,
I haven't been here since I purchased my T400 and I feel like buying either a T410 or T410s. But I couldn't find straight answers to my questions so far...if you guys can help my chose....
I have the choice between a fully loaded T410 and the intel HD T410s, here is what I can't figure out:
1. Is there really a noticeable difference in weight and battery life between the two?
2. Is the 6 cell battery sticking out of the back of the T410 (I hate my 9-cell on my T400, it;s ugly)
3. Can I install the Intel SSD X18-M 160Gb in the T410s
4. How does the Intel GMA perform with basic videos playing, video editing and Photoshop type of stuff?
5. Is it worth upgrading to PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM 1333MHz (while the CPU FSB is 1066MHz anyway...or does it have nothing to do?)
In fact I am trying to justify the extra cost of the T410s![]()
At the end of the day my T400 with 9-cell is heavy and I'm tired of this.
thanks

1. I believe the difference is 1lb, it could be alot to some people than other. Personally if you are carrying it around with you all day you might as well get T410s
2. 6 cell doesn't stick out like the t400 for t410
3. If x18-m is 1.8" then yes. I believe it will fit in T410s
4. Basic task with the new GMA is ok.
5. If your cpu fsb is 1066mhz, the memory will only taken advantage 1066mhz speed. (Lenovo might put in pc3-10600 but only advertise as pc3-8500, some receive y460 with pc3-10700)
To conclude, I think if you think t400 is too heavy, I recommend you get a T410s. -
the T400 is heavy because of the 9 cell battery, if you can live without the 9 cells extended battery time, you could always get the 4 cells, which should lower the weight by 1 pound.

1. The difference in size and weight between the T410 and the T410s does not seem that significant on paper, but it really is quite very noticeable in practice.
2. 6-Cell does not stick out on the T410.
3. Installing that SSD on the T410s will be super easy. Just remember, if you order the machine with an HDD, you can't just use the restore disk on your new SSD - you'll have to do a complete fresh install of Windows from scratch because an HDD restore image shouldn't be used on an SSD.
4. The Intel graphics will be excellent for the tasks you mentioned. The only thing that you'd be limited on would be 3d gaming and 3d modeling programs.
5. No, don't pay more for that 1333 RAM.
I have the T410s and I carry it around with me all day every day. It has been a great purchase, and I absolutely made the right decision. It is a fantastic notebook for portability without being one of those super-tiny ultraportables or netbooks.
Because you are coming from a 9-cell T400 and are considering a 6-cell T410s, make sure you consider that the battery life between those two will be extremely different. That is one of the few weaknesses of the T410s, in my opinion. You'll get about 2.5 hours of standard use on the T410s battery - I'd imagine you're used to 6+ hours on your 9-cell T400.
