Apparently there are a lot of complaint about the quality of EasyServ (depot service) warranty on the thread below from forum.thinkpads.com.

The nice thing about a ThinkPad is you'll send it in less than other machines. I can't speak to the depot repair as I have never had to send in any of my three ThinkPads for repair. I have always had good phone support.

Thank you for pointing out potential problems we may face in the future. Having read the complaints in the above thread, I am also quite concerned about the warranty service. Therefore, I also wrote to the IBM customer rep at https://www.ibm.com/cgi-bin/email-sjp.pl to express my concern. It appears that IBM still has some say about Lenovo business practice. I hope they do something about it.

I have sent my ThinkPad to EasyServ before and I had no problems. Everything was great and I also had great phone support.

As soon as I wrote to the IBM customer rep as I explained above, I got an e-mail from Executive Representative, Executive Customer Relations anagement Team, Lenovo International.

He assured me that Lenovo is doing their best to resolve their customers' issues. My guess is that Lenovo farms out their depo repair service to third party shops, whoes interest may not be the same as that of Lenovo.

Unless we, customers, bring up our concerns to Lenovo, they may not know what is going on with their subcontrators.
