I'm buying a new x220 tablet. I want to save as much money as possible. I already have a copy at home of Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Can I buy the laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium option to save money, and then later install Windows 7 Professional on it? Can I still get all the same software/settings that Lenovo comes with?

    Thanks

The downgrade to home premium (when I bought mine) saved me $50...I put in a 128gb ssd and reinstalled all lenovo software and it looks as it did when I bought it now. Some say that the original factory image will provide better battery life though.

If it's x64 Home Premium, which it should be, then you should be able to upgrade. I bought Home Premium and it was x64.

Great. I'll do that then. Worry about SSD imaging later. Thanks!

windows 8 Preview is another consideration. It's free and x220 with it has 10% more battery time.
