Hi...
Self-replacement of the keyboard on a brand new ThinkPad (with a 3-year warranty) does not void the warranty, does it?
Is this written someplace that I can keep as a record? If yes, any links/ pointers etc would be very helpful.
Thanks.

The keyboard is considered customer replaceable and does not void the warranty.
-
I've seen a few posts on this forum about people replacing their CPUs without voiding the warranty.
-
What about replacing the hard drive (e.g. fitting a larger capacity drive) or installing a different version of Windows (e.g. Going from XP to Windows 7)?
Many thanks -

Is there a place where this is mentioned explicitly? You see, in India, one's gotta cover all bases. So, I need to have it in writing or at least accessible on the net such that I can point to it, if necessary (which I suspect will be necessary).
I HATE Lenovo Customer Care and I am not so taken in by their build quality either! Damn palmrest! -
Installing other operating systems won't void the warranty. Replacing HDDs is fine as well but keep the old one just in case you'll ever need to return the machine or send it for some additional maintenance works.

CRUs and FRUs for different models are explicitly listed in the videos at http://www.lenovoservicetraining.com/ion/.

@JaneL...Thanks, I'll check it out.
EDIT: On checking online, among other things, I find the following statement:
"This product has a special bid four year limited warranty. This product is entitled to parts, labor and on-site repair service (9x5 next business day) in approved locations. Thinkpad batteries have a one year warranty."
What does "special bid four year limited warranty" mean? -
Many thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

special bid warranty are usually for corporation and large purchase customers. I have a T43 that has a 5 year warranty standard, and this machine was from a friend whom works in a bank.
