    Officially, the X220 supported 8GB of RAM in 2 4GB DIMMs, but I believe many users have gotten up to 16GB to work without issue. A 4GB + 8GB arrangement with that RAM stick should work fine.

    2 X 8GB would indeed work fine in the X220t. I have it installed in mine.

    As the others have stated, it'll support 2 x 8 GB sticks unofficially.
