An R30 2656-20U will not come out of hibernation/sleep. The moon icon stays lit and even the cooling fan will run. When the laptop is forced to shutdown via the power button and is started back up via the power button the moon light comes back on even if the fn + f3 button is pressed(which should bring it out of its coma). I've removed the battery, memory strips, and even switched hard drives thinking that would get rid of the command to be hibernized without any luck. I've never liked the hibernation feature on the IBM laptops. I'd greatly appreciate any help. Oh, I've also been told that the motherboard might have a battery in it. I've searched IBM's skematics and have found nothing showing or stating an internal motherboard battery. That might be heresay like muffler bearings. I do not know.

try doing a windows and driver update, also check if your BIOS is updates.

i know, when i clean install windows on some machines, standby and hibernate don't work until i do a windows update.

    its worth the shot.
