I can go (a meager) 2 hours or so on my R40 battery starting at full. The machine has a power-hungry Pentium 4-M CPU. Still, word processing, wireless, etc. work fine on battery. But when I'm using the D: drive to work on ripping or burning, the batt. suddenly goes kaput. In anywhere from 30 seconds to a minute, a full battery charge disappears to nothing.

I've troubleshooted this as much as I know how, and the indicator says "This battery is in good condition." Warranty is expired. Any ideas? Help me, before I needlessly blow money on some used ebay battery!
