What is the difference between the three?
Is the monitor quality better on the R50 than in the R40?

I doubt there's been a whole lot of advance in monitor quality, but the R50 is a more recent machine and it's probably safe to say better in many respects. The fact the R50 uses the latest IBM software and Active Protective System for protecting data on the hard drive is just one indication you'll have a more advanced and up to date machine in the R50 series.
