I've got an R500 that's showing 21% on the battery, and the battery manager says "battery worn due to normal use, will not charge, get a new battery".

However, it doesn't actually have 21%, it shuts off whenever the cord is unplugged. I tried to run the Power Monitor "battery gauge reset" function, but unlike other people who have a 5 hour process and success, for me it only runs for about 30 seconds, and then stops running. No news about the new battery gauge, nothing.

I've run the Windows command "powercfg -energy" and the log file shows my battery has 40% juice left, so I'm pretty sure the battery isn't 100% dead.

    Any help is appreciated!!

The chip that controls the charging of your battery has "decided" that the battery is dead.

Regardless of anything else that you might attempt, that battery will have to be replaced, sooner than later, unless you want to risk damage to the charging circuit.

I don't mind that...at this point the battery is non-functional. I'll even try the GPU bake method on it :p

This definitely won't do anything. In fact, this could even be downright dangerous.

    ^^^ Agreed 10001%.

Especially for the fact that your machine doesn't belong to the generation that had GPU problems.

Just buy a good used genuine battery (preferably a Panasonic one) and call it a day.
