I'm about to order a Thinkpad R500 and I was wondering if the keyboard was as good as the previous models. Anyone has tried it ?

    Thank you!

They had some issues on the early runs (on the T400 in particular) with flex, but due to customer feedback, they've gone back to the same design and production process used on the T6x models. All I've heard indicates it is still one of the best keyboards available.

So all Thinkpads now benefit of the solid-feel keyboard ? or just the T serie?

I believe it is all ThinkPads. As a matter of fact, if I'm not mistaken, the same keyboard is used on the X30x as on the T400/500. I'm not sure if the R-series uses the same one or not, but if I had to guess, I'd say it does.

Yes, I think all Thinkpad keyboards have reverted to the solid-backed type.

Actually, I don't think the X30x series keyboards are the same as the T-series and R-series keyboards. Well, appearance-wise at least, they're different.

Im hesitating between the R500 and the T500, I think I will go with the R500. I would prolly not use the extras that could get me the T500. They both are extremely good looking imho.
