    Hello everyone...

    I just recieved Lenovo R500, 2.26Ghz, 150Gb, and 1gb ram.

i want to upgrade the ram. what kind/model i should get? what is the maximum i can install?
how many available slots are on the mobo? this 1 gb, how can i find out if its one stick or two?
and i have macbook ram (i think its ddr 2), can i install it on this laptop (which I think its ddr3 but i'm not sure).

    thanks in advance.

If you have 1GB of memory it's probably one stick. The R500 uses PC8500 DDR3 memory. If you're running XP or 32 bit Vista you can only use 3GB of memory. So I'd buy another 2GB stick. If you have 64 bit Vista, XP or Linux I believe the max is 8GB.

Like ZaZ said, the R500 uses DDR3 PC8500 RAM, so your Macbook DDR2 RAM is incompatible - it will not even fit, because they have slightly different form factors. Most likely, you are running a 32-bit operating system, in which case I suggest you buy a 2GB RAM stick.

The R500 can support a maximum of 8GB of DDR3 RAM in its two slots, however, few people have much use for 8GB of RAM, and DDR3 sticks are currently prohibitively expensive. As for whether you have 1 or 2 sticks of RAM currently, you can open it up and see, although I'm pretty sure it came with 1 1GB stick.
