    I just ordered the new Hitachi 80GB HDD Model #: HTS721080G9AT00 and am worried about the compatibilty issues. Has anyone installed this model successfully in their R51?

    the reason i was worried is that on thinkpads.com, someone bought the same exact model for their R50 and it doesnt seem to be working as it doesnt recognize the HD.

    Since you are using the Dothan M, I don't foresee any problems. Perhaps the other person got a lemon. Worst case is it won't work and you can send it in for a refund.

    yeah im hoping thats the case, because Hitachi makes all the IBM thinkpad HDD so i can't see it not working unless theres something wrong with his system or the HDD. Otherwise i'll try my luck with the seagate.
