Hi everyone! This is my first post and everythin!

I'm getting my first ThinkPad. (WEE!!). I decided to settle for a ThinkPad since I know they're workhorses and can basically be run over by a truck without breaking (Sliiight overexaggeration, but you get the idea). I'll be staying in Japan for a year now, doing some studies, typing thesises and those kinda things, and I do NOT want my computer to break down on me after all, it's a pain with warranties, service spots and all that.

    I'm going for the ThinkPad:
    Model Name: 1846AQG
    Part Number: UN3AQSW

    LENOVO GEN. INFO LINK

I've been looking everywhere without finding any specific information on the carbus model. I'm getting a Creative Audigy 2 PCMCIA soundcard as I'm an audiphile and this is the closest I can get to an alright soundcard in a laptop. There are however compatibility issues between it and some cardbus models. I've read that it's either a TI-PCI1510 or by a...R...something manufacturer in the R52 ThinkPad. Anyone having any information on this (hey, perhaps you've got an Audigy card and know if it's compatible as well) would be really helpful!

    Thanks a bunch!

Ohh yeah, I'd also like to know wheter it's a 4 or 5400rpm drive innit...

If you know a better PCMCIA card than the Audigy 2 card, please do tell.

I'd say that it absolutely seems like Lenovo's sitting on all the information without letting anyone know then?

Ahh. I can't believe I've missed the drive speed information on that page. I visited atleast...3, 4 times on my search for the buss card model. thanks for the info nonetheless! I feel a little stupid now.

Anyways. I spend the majority of the afternoon looking for alternative PCMCIA based soundcards which suits me better (Audiophile musician) and found the Echo Indigo I/O which costs considerably more but seems to offer better soundquality...So I don't really have to know the bus card model anymore. ...

Still, is it supposed to be this hard to find out which parts they've used? I think someone posted a parts and model info pdf which was quite comprehensive, to say the least in the past, though I can't seem to find it anymore....
