    Hello all,

    Quick question:

For the R60 with the ATIx1400 & 2GBs of RAM, would the following tasks be too much for this piece?

    1. I sometimes do audio on the go...nothing major. I have a M-Audio external firewire soundcard for my main rig and was wondering if I use this with an R60, would the processor (C2D) with 2GBs of ram be able to handle something like Adobe Audition, or would this productivity tool choke?

    2. I also enjoy playing games like Half-Life 2, Age of Empires 3...stuff like that. I'm ok with playing games on medium settings. But with this laptop, am I asking for too much when wanting to play these games? How's the x1400?

One more thing: The Lenovo Y300 can be outfitted with a Nvidia go73001 GB of ram, and a few other things which ups the SGD $1899 price to SGD $2300. The R60 with the x1400 costs SGD $2399...this with all the rigor and warranty of an Thinkpad. (I'm living in Singapore now).
Am I missing something? Why would anyone want a Lenovo Y300 for that price when they could get a sturdier piece Thinkpad for $100 bucks more?

I'd go with the R60 over the Lenovo Y300. I know HL2 will run at medium settings on the X1400 without problem, I just don't know about AoE (not familiar with it).

You would get the performance you need out of this R60 for audio apps.

I agree. Get the R60 for $100 more. Its well worth the extra money.

Thanks so much guys. I do quite a bit of audio editing (Adobe, Sony ACID Pro, etc) and would like to do some "touch up" work while on the road and thus need a rig that will not hack a lung when trying to process audio files.

It seems as long as i get a model with the C2D, I'll be fine.

    Thanks again, peace...

I do the same, and the C2D is silky smooth with that stuff (you may want to consider a 7200RPM HDD aswell ;) )
