If these were your two choices ($-wise they're close with T60 being $150 more) which would you choose?

I can't order SXGA+ with the T60 but I wonder if I'll regret not getting anyway.

Do you need the portability and added thinness the 14" t60 offers? What will you be using the computer for?

It's tough answer since I'm actually buying for a friend who's a professional musician. I chose the thinkpad mainly for its reliability and for its transferable warranty. (I'll be adding a 3-year depot warranty.) He's has a metal briefcase lined with foam on all six sides which held a Compaq 2700 series laptop (15" XGA, Celeron) which just recently died. So I know that the R60 15" will fit inside. He also has an older Compaq 15" P3 SXGA+ at home that is too fragile to travel (friggin' daughter cards keep coming undone). I asked him today which he'd prefered (XGA or SXGA+). He's likes the SXGA+ but obviously he also was able to use XGA. (BTW, he's not familiar with Thinkpads.) Email and getting directions to the next gig and hotel are his top uses followed by late-night surfing after the gig. He also wants a DVD-burner but that's not the issue here (though the T60 can come with 160GB drive while the R60 is limited to a max of 120 GB). I'm leaning toward the R60 15" for the SXGA+ display. And I think SXGA+ is probably too much for an R60 14" on his eyes. Currently Lenovo is only selling standard portrait T60's with 14" XGA screens. One thing that is puzzling is HP says his 2700 laptop weighed 7.99 lbs. while the R60 15" travelling weight is 6.2 lbs. I find it hard to believe that the HP actually weighs more than a R60...!

SXGA+ looks fine to me on 14". It is only an inch.
