The thinkpad power manager indicates that battery can store only 69% of its original capacity. I'm using this notebook for around 1.5 years. The notebook was most of time plugged in.

    Is this normal?

Do I need to buy a new battery?

    Thanks

Have you done a battery gauge reset?

Power manager > Battery tab > battery maintenance > perform reset.

This will help calibrate and give an updated status of the health of the battery.

I did the battery gauge reset. The power manager still shows that battery can store only 69% of original capacity.

The lenovo website reports that 43R2499 battery can last upto 7.5 hrs.
    Is this true?

My 7 cell battery used to last for 1.5 hrs with energy star power plan.

    so the situation is
u have use your notebook like 1.5 years
most of the time plug in using the energy star settings

the question is even your battery at 100% u still left it plug in ?
if yes i think u have cause some dmg to the battery so it will cause u having less battery life
but as u read from the lenovo it's the max amount of hours that the battery could last but not all batteries like it.
for examples, my battery the site told me that it could last like 6.5 hours
in my personal experiences is it last like 5 hours with condition wifi enabled
that's still sound pretty nice for me

the 6.5 hours is using the energy star with
    1. 0 out of 15 brightness,
    2. bluetooth 100% off,
    3. wifi 100% off,
    4. dvd 100% off,
    5. may be it's idle ?
