Does anyone know if R61 has trouble with 128x8 density modules? I tested these modules Memtest86+, and they got an error. Then I retested again individually, and I got no errors. I'm asking because of the following email I got for a RMA.
    ----------------------------------------------------------
Now about out memory problems with Thinkpad R61 7732CTO.
Usually these modules are ok, but in this case chip configuration is different
than what you need.. SPEED/MHZ is what you need, but we need other chip configuration
    in your machine.

We give our customers multiple choices. We can send and RMA number for standard
exchange or if you wish, we can upgrade the memory to known brand with 100%
compatibility. And we want win-win scenario, so we offer it at our cost difference. You
    had purchased Qty1 & paid $60.00 for 4GB DDR2 SODIMM 4 GB PC2 PC 5300 667
    667Mhz 2 X 2GB.

We have 4 options for you to chose from :

Option 1 : With spending just little more, you can upgrade to right density
RAM,but 1/2 the size. That means you can get 2x1GB Stick (or 4x512MB) MODULE
in exchange for what you have now. Upgrade cost is additional $25.20. Price
includes shipping and all, This is a good economical option if you wish to
    consider.

Option 2 : Standard Exchange - Simple option (make sure you have compatible
modules as many dual memory based motherboards will not work with these modules
(You need to see compatibility with 128x8, 64x8 configuration)(Since current
modules are not working, please remember memory do not usually come bad,
so I would recommend looking at upgrade option)--> (NOT RECOMMENDED FROM
    WHAT INFO YOU GAVE ME)

    Option 3:
There are two options for UPGRADE
3A) : Upgrade OEM - THAT will cost you additional $45.75 for 64x8 6 Layer
DDR2 RAM -(Total includes shipping)- this is OEM memory, but right memory
for your needs. There is 3 Year warranty by manufacturer. This is good economical
solution to get your system memory upgraded.

3B) : Upgrade Major Brand - THAT will cost you additional $53.50 (RAM CERTIFIED
FOR YOUR Thinkpad R61 7732CTO)For 64x8 6 configuration Layer Major Brand
memory (Total includes shipping- This is high quality memory and there is
lifetime warranty direct from manufacturer. For best possible quality at
reasonable price and for Hassle free experience, we recommend this, but final
    decision is yours

NOTE : This is COST difference only, we do not make double profit.

NOTE : This is COST difference only, we do not make double profit. This offer
is ONLY for customers who have already given us POSITIVE FEEDBACK, If you
have not, then regular price will apply.Regular price is about $12 more.

    goodwill please.

Ok, I just got a reply from them, and they said some motherboards are incompatible with high density modules.
