R61/T61 microphone?

this may be a silly question, but i haven't seen any definitive documentation on it.

if you get a new thinkpad with a webcam, does it also include a mic? Is it also in the bezel? How's the quality?

 

I have a T61 14/1" widescreen. The camera is in the top center of the bezel (little bit left of center, actually), and it does include a built-in mic.

I'm not sure where the mic is, but it's not in the bezel. My guess is right next the the touchpad buttons, above the headphone jack. There are two little slits.

Can't really compare the quality of either camera or mic with other built-in ones, but I've used Skype a few times with the built in speakers, mic, and camera, and there have been no problems with feedback, echoes, or anything like that.

 

the integrated mic on the thinkpads are excellent. Actually, even if you do not have an integrated webcam, it will have a mic. As mentioned before, the mic is just to the right of the right mouse button.

 

Now if only they had array mics..... Technology that promises so much but hardly used
