hey guys, just wondering those of you that have the r61 or t61, have you noticed a difference in battery life when using vista or xp, i would think xp would give you better battery life due to the fact that vista probably punishses the hard drive with loading crap.but just wondering, also just a little off track, is the T5250 a 64 bit processor?

I believe the general consensus is that you will gain some battery life using XP, but I'm not entirely sure.

    The T5450 is a 64-bit CPU.

Vista consumes a little more battery than XP, but after some Vista tweaks, they would consume pretty much the same amount of energy.

I don't think the tweaks have to do anything with battery life. The resources that Vista uses is much more than XP. I tested it.

    How did you test it?

Based on the ram and CPU usage, I disable many services and used many tweaks, it still ran slower than XP. The battery life was decreased by an hour.
    That's just me.

On my old Dell laptop (Inspiron 8600), with XP Pro installed, battery life is 3.5+ hr, with Vista installed, only 2 hr. Big difference!

i get over 2 hours on 14.1'' r61i with vista business on a 4 cell battery with "battery optimized" power plan.

i used to have a 15.1" inspiron e1505 with 9 cell and it gave me just under 4 hours with light use with xp pro sp2
