Hey what do you think about the R61 thinkpad ? I am currently searching for a good 14,1" laptop with good linux hardware support. I will mainly use it to do some shool work with windows office or open office, listen to music, msn and play some old games the gma x3100 can hadle.

I think the R61i could be a good choice but i fear that I dont have enought battery life with the 4 cell battery.

Also, does it has the same quality standars as the T series ?

(sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language ^^")

I'm also in the same situation. As far as I know, the R61 has the same build quality as a T61 except that it a bit thicker and heavier (but not by much).

Currently if you purchase the R61 on selected models, they will throw in an extra 6-cell battery on the Lenovo On-Line flier section.

From threads and reviews that I've read, if it's anything like the T61, it's quiet but the fan area gets warm/hot on heavy applications like gaming. If it's word processing/internet, it shouldn't get to hot. Can someone correct me if I'm wrong?
