    R61 is terrible at watching movies

    Ok, maybe the technology is behind, but I barely can see anything with the brightness turned up to 100%. My 6 years old VAIO is a lot better than this.

    What's the deal?

    If you're watching on on battery, there is a setting in the BIOS which allows you increase the brightness of the screen like you're plugged in to the AC. I have not seen the R61, but the T61 seemed good to me and they use the same panels. Movies are fine on my R60 as long as the angle is good and it uses a dimmer screen. Perhaps there's something wrong with your screen or backlight.

    The screen looks pretty good and bright enough for anything except movies. I've been watching 720p videos with AC pluggned in, and the blacks look very dark, its barely visible.

    Are you sure your screen is bright enough while watching movies?
