My friend just got an R61 with only 512MB of memory (and T7100). He wants to get more memory. Do u suggest
    1. Put one more 1GB stick
    2. Throw away the 512MB and put two stick of 1GB
    3. Put one 2GB stick (cost much more than #2).

He will be using Vista. Mostly office app. Some programming (Visual Studio). A little photo editing. Absolutely no hardcore game.

BTW, I'm quite impress with the build of R61. Might get one soon also :)

For vista, I think he should get TWO 1 gig sticks = 2gigs.

Also, don't throw away the other stick, sell it :p

I support the idea of 2 GB RAM in view of Vista. Most business users are comfortable with this quantity.

Consider option 3 only if he intends to go beyond 2 GB, otherwise it is more economical to go with 2 x 1 GB.

Besides the R61, you may like to consider options from T61 or T61p .
