I used the Lenovo System Toolbox to check for drivers and software. My bios is 2.09, and the toolbox took me to the drivers and software page which said the latest bios for the R61e is 2.22. I was about to download it, but I noticed it specifically mentioned model
R61e CTO 7650. My R61e is CTO 7649. Would this cause a problem? I know some will say "if it aint broke, don't fix it", but I like to have the latest bios.

Alright I'll say it. What's the benefit of having the latest BIOS?

But why does the toolbox tell me the latest bios is 2.22 for my R61e, and then tell me it's for CTO 7650, while mine is CTO 7649?

did you use thinkvantage autoupdate software?

that program is known to screw things up sometimes. its probably safer to manually instal/upgrade things/drivers than to rely on that program

in any case you should upgrade/downgrade your bios back to the one you think is right

No, I used the lenovo toolbox, which took me to the drivers and downloads page.
