Can the slot be used as a photo memory card reader, and if so,does it require a 34 or a 54?

You'll need a PCMCIA card reader like this one for it to read flash memory. I use this one too as my R60 lack a card reader as well.

Does the linked SanDisk reader support SDHC cards? The listed specs don't say.

I'm looking for a PCMCIA/PC Card reader that supports both SD and SDHC memory cards for my T60 so I can keep its ExpressCard slot free for other uses.

    just to be certain...

Will this item will work with my R61e, read compact flash, and fit flush? R61e has only the PC card slot on the left. Thanks in advance.

It says which cards it will read right on the page and compact flash is not one of them. You'd need a seperate PCMCIA compact flash reader. It sits flush on my R60. I would assume it would be the same on the R61e, but don't have one to test it.
