I have a new R61i Thinkpad with XP SP2. I wanted to switch faster between users, so I went to that option on the Users Accounts on the control panel. I got a pop-up message that said I needed to uncheck "Enable Offline Files" to be able to do this, so I unchecked that. Then I checked the box for 'Use Fast User Switching'.
After setting that up, when I went to switch from my desktop over to my wife's (there are only 2 users), on her desktop I got error messages, something about the Thinkadvatange software already in use by another user. I got multiple pop-ups saying the same thing. The computer did not seem happy.
I went back to my desktop to start to investigate what was happening. It opened, but shortly there after got a BSOD. I don't remember exactly what it said, sorry.
I was going to do a system restore (in the safe mode), but what ever happened kicked off the Restore point I had just set earlier that day, and apparently got rid of most of the other previous Restore points as well!
I reset the 'Use Fast User Switching' back to the way it originally was, and the computer mostly behaved normally. When I restarted the computer and the desktop was coming up, most of the desktop icon thumbnails were missing (generic thumbs came up instead), and not all the items came up on the task bar that were normally there before, as well as the battery indicator was gone. I restarted again, and they came back, but I suspect the computer is running slightly slower.
So..... is there some compatilbility issue with the 'Use Fast User Switching' feature and the Thinkadvantage software? What happened was totally unexpected. I thought I was just making a simple change on XP. Is this a quirk on my machine, or have others experienced the same thing?
Otherwise, the R61i has been a very nice experience and I like it a lot.
Thanks in advance for any help or input anyone can give!

most likely two culprit
a) Client Security Solution - uninstall this one as it is mostly useless
b) Rescue and Recovery - uninstall this one if a) doesn't work.
When Fast User Switching works again after uninstalling a) or/and b), then you may re-install b) if needed. Somehow this would sometime make them co-exisit in harmony...
R61i - Fast user switching - Not compatible with Thinkvantage?
