    Greetings All

I have a new R61i Thinkpad, win xp pro sp 2, core 2 duo 1.66ghz, 1 gig memory. In setting it up I added a password to the default admin account on the first startup, then created two password protected users, one admin and one limited. I then adjusted view and performance settings, updated windows, set up base software and home networking. I did not make any changes to the log-in procedure that I am aware of.

Now when I start the machine, as the screen first goes from black to blue I get the "Log on to Windows" box with User Name: Administrator, and Password: (blank), covered with an error message that says- "The system could not log you on. Make sure your user name and domain are correct, then type your password again."

When I OK this, they both go away and the welcome screen appears where I can log on to either of my users with no problem. Occasionally this message seems to just flash by and I get the "Windows is starting up..." blue screen, but no users and it just hangs there. I have to force a shut down and start again. I have gone back and forth with using the welcome screen or not at login and it does not change the situation. I have glanced at the BIOS settings and did not see anything obvious to change, also I don't know if any of the Lenovo software on the machine has any bearing on the login, I haven't looked into that yet.

I am hoping I am missing something simple in windows here and it is an easy fix.

    Thanks, Dave Parker
