I want to have 2 identical SSD's for backup if 1 fails.

To do this, I will use the Thinkpad X230T adapter bay 3.

But, it needs to be removed sometimes when being mobile.

Is it possible to reattach them and resync them easily?

If so, how do you reattach and resync them properly?

I have never done any RAID before; so I'm new to this.

BTW I'm using Windows 7 Professional.

Thank you for any help, gentlemen.

In case of one drive being routinely disconnected, RAID will cause nothing but trouble. You probably can setup software RAID with one SSD in the primary bay, and one in mSATA, but software RAID-1 is not a backup replacement. It's just a method to reduce downtime caused by some, relatively rare, failures, while not helping, or making things worse, in many other cases (such as software error, user error etc).

If you want backup, automated Windows 7 built-in backup, or some other software solution from Acronis/Symantec/etc, will produce a much more reliable solution.
