    Good afternoon everyone,

    T41 user and first post

I am thinking of getting a T60P. I would like it to have maximum system RAM. However, instead of spending more than $100 on a 512MB IBM RAM, I prefer upgrading the RAM from cheaper sources. My question is: How much RAM should I order from IBM to guarantee the optimal performance? I have read some posts but got conflicting information. Would really appreciate it if you would take the trouble to enlighten me.

    Happy new year!

If you plan to buy the RAM from a third party source later on, then get as little RAM from IBM as possible, 256MB, and replace that with whatever you like. Performance will be extremely slow and will likely require an upgrade by you immediately.

For most people 1GB is probably more than enough.
