The T400 uses standardDDR3 laptop memory - 204 pin DDR3 SODIMM at PC3 8500(DDR3 1066). Any brand should work fine for the most part. Check out newegg or any online retailer for prices. Upgrading to 4GB should cost US$ 45 - 60 (2X2gb). If you configured your system with a 2GB single stick then all you need is to put in another 2GB stick(US$ 25 - 30) and you should be ready to go. Ofcourse make sure you have 64bit OS if you want it to access the full 4GB.
